Babylon II

In Memory of September 11, 2001

Fallen towers—ancient and new,

dwellings of ambition and greed

continued suffering of the meek,

no-one heals living pain.

The dead cannot turn its cheek,

the sword cannot eradicate

our mindless anger or theirs.

Nobody wipes off our tears.

Reason or towering wealth,

poverty or justice,

to heal or to grab?

Goodness or opulence,

compassion or greed,

to share or not to share?

To build or to destroy,

rational or irrational choices.

To be or not to be?

That is the question.
